For the creation of a portrait, I arrange to meet my subject. I take a series of photographs and gather background information so that I can get to know the animal’s character. From this ‘sitting’ I aim to produce a finished painting that will contain the fine detail, as well as the essential character that can be seen in an animal’s eyes. I paint mainly horses, ponies, and dogs, but you will also see examples of cat portraits and even bulls! |

Alongside my painting, I have for years been taking photographs at horse shows, for the public and press including Horse and Hound magasine. With the launch of this website I will now be able to show many more of these images to the public at large. Through years of close observation of animal behaviour, movement, correct conformation and type coupled with practice in the field I have developed the expertise to set up the animal, obtaining the exact stance and attitude so the animal appears to its best advantage whilst retaining its individuality. From equine to exotic, canine comrade or feline friend, blue ribbon prize winner or lifelong companion the subject can be captured forever in a photograph or watercolour painting. |
